Louis Vuitton Americas Cup World Series Finale in Fukuoka
21 November 2016
After nine events in the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series in all corners of the globe, the final day of racing in Fukuoka was, shall we say large for the America’s Cup teams. Four teams could have potentially won on paper, but Land Rover BAR had to falter from their momentum to lose their substantial lead.
After a slow start in the conditions and some concerns as to whether racing…
What a great day for the America’s Cup to make its official racing debut in Japan. Challenging conditions, but at least there was wind, enough at times for foiling, and it stayed in for the duration of racing.
As always with America’s Cup World Series racing, the set course was very short with tight boundaries, and with the cross over conditions, handling and sail choice between the jib and…
The sport of sailing is pulling out rock star status right now in Japan; the Japanese people are seriously lapping up having America’s Cup racing in their country for the first time in its long and prestigious history.
Today (as well as one on one’s and a report on the practice racing which you will find below), I have a video from the press conference, with all of the team skippers, except…
LVACWS Portsmouth final day - fast and furious
25 July 2016
While Oracle Team USA did all but everything they could to take the win with a 2, 1, 1 scorecard today, it wasn’t enough to topple the fast and furious tenacity of a Ben Ainslie led Land Rover BAR on the final day of racing at the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series in Portsmouth.
“We really want to try and do you proud” said Sir Ben Ainslie to the crowd before racing…
LVACWS Portsmouth 2016 day 1: "Bumper" action
24 July 2016
The Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series racing today in Portsmouth, with light winds across the course in a slowly building south-easterly sea breeze was far more exciting than any of us were expecting. Feedback from all of the teams put this down to a tight start line, tidal influence and the constantly shifting breeze to the right resulting in “bumper car” action that kept…
I feel like I should buy a lottery ticket. No offence locals of England, but I believe we have had five sunny summer days in a row, which meant for a little sea breeze this afternoon, and four practice races ahead of official racing tomorrow and Sunday. Could this be the first Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series event where we see a full program of racing? Here’s hoping!
Land…
If you predicted what would happen in today’s Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series racing in New York you are either the best storyteller around, or exceptionally intuitive.
One for the memory banks for sure!
With the bad luck of getting stuck on the pin at the start of the final race, knifing the mark from their foils, and then sailing through with new pressure, Emirates Team New…
Day 1 at the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series in New York was exceptionally tough on competitors, organisers and the spectators who were let down by a fading sea breeze which just wasn’t strong enough to battle the fast-flowing Hudson River.
In the first start of the day, the whole fleet was over the line early due to current, except for Artemis Racing, who was then one of two…
Today the Endeavour Program that aims to take sailing to communities involved with the America’s Cup, as first launched in Bermuda, was also introduced to New York.
Tucker Thompson and Russell Coutts welcomed the kids, with the Auld Mug in attendance, and a sailor from each team met with the young sailors before they headed out on the water.
I was lucky enough to chat with a group of kids…
