ACWS Portsmouth: One day down but plenty of action!

America’s Cup World Series

Day 2 Portsmouth – Wrap up!

Everyone was ready for some more ACWS racing today except for the weather. With winds well outside of the recommended 25 knots the organisers had no choice but to abandon racing.
Hear from five of the six skippers: Nathan Outteridge – Artemis Racing, Franck Cammas – Groupama Team France, Dean Barker – SoftBank Team Japan, Jimmy Spithill – Oracle Team USA and home town victor Ben Ainslie – Land Rover BAR.
Even with racing being called off today, was still great to be here and see the boats in action. Can’t wait for Gothenburg in August!

Day 2 – Portsmouth – The perfect coffee

At the start of the week when I first showed the media interns at ACWS how to make a coffee, I told them we would film it at the end of the week. Awesome job by Rachel to present, and also Matt for filming this little video. I do make a mean Nespresso coffee! Sailor Girl xx

Day 2 – Portsmouth – Breeze on!

Hey guys – just a preview of the conditions on today’s race track! Seriously breeze on… Racing has already been brought forward to midday, one hour away local time… Will keep you posted on whether racing goes ahead! From a cold and now wet Sailor Girl xx

Day 1 – Portsmouth

Finally it was time to see the AC45’s line up today for the first day of racing for the 35th America’s Cup at the AC World Series in Portsmouth. Land Rover Ben Ainslie Racing won the first race on home turf and were second in race two sitting them in the lead after day one. Emirates Team New Zealand won the second race, and with a third in race one they are in second place ahead of defenders Oracle Team USA.
This video kicks off on the water just before racing, with glimpses from my visit to the technical team bases this morning.
Then it is straight into the media scrum post racing for interviews with all the team: Dean Barker – SoftBank Team Japan, Frank Cammas – Groupama Team France, Nathan Outteridge – Artemis Racing, Sir Ben Ainslie – Land Rover BAR, Pete Burling – ETNZ and Jimmy Spithill – Oracle Team USA.
Enjoy xx

Practice Race Day – Portsmouth

Managed to catch up with three skippers today after the boats had their first chance to line up. Dean Barker of SoftBank Team Japan, Ben Ainslie of the host team, Land Rover Ben Ainslie Racing, and defending skipper, Jimmy Spithill of Oracle Team USA. More tomorrow – enjoy, Sailor Girl xx
